love it!Sep 13, 2009 I owned another brand electric mower and liked it very much. It was easy because the handle flipped making turns easy. This WORX handle does not flip but I love it. The grass "bag" holds a lot and I use the grass clippings for deep mulch. It is the only thing that keeps this Virginia "wire grass" out of my plants. It cuts a smaller swath but is so lightweight that it's great!
Great Little Lawn MowerSep 08, 2009 This Mower is a great little unit. I have used it 4 times already and it is a pleasure not to have to deal with gas cans. I fold it up and it fits in my small deck storage box, so no need to find a spot in the garage and track in any remaining grass.
Poor ServiceJul 29, 2009 The on-off switch broke on the Worx mower in its second year of use. Worx can't or won't give an update on if or when a replacement switch will be available. Don't buy it - if it breaks you can't get spare parts.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!Jul 08, 2009 The WORX product is alright, although the mower arrived with minor damage (poor packaging). The customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with.
After purchasing my WORX mower and grass trimmer through Amazon, I eventually needed to purchase more trimmer spools and opted for the "free" spools program (paying only shipping) offered directly from WORX customer service. In the same order, I also purchased a device from them that allows you to store the grass trimmer and it's battery on the wall of your garage.
After being charged as expected, two weeks past with no product. I contacted their customer service and was informed both products (spools and trimmer device) were on back-order but would ship in 24 to 48 hours. After another week passed, I called again and was transferred to a supervisor who sounded like he was reading from a script. He admitted the spools had not been on back-order but could not explain why I was lied to previously. He could not tell me when my order would ship saying that it was "in process". He then offered a to wave the shipping cost as though that would fix not being able to use my $100 WORX grass trimmer without the spools they sell. This supervisor then assured me he would forward my "case" to upper management and I would receive a call within the 72 business hours. It's been eight days and I've not received a call. It's been over 4 weeks since I placed the order.
Though it's for a small amount of money (less than $25), WORX customer service has essentially stolen my money and falsely advertised in selling me a product I can't obtain and they won't (or as this supervisor said to me, he "can't") tell me why!
I assume others are receiving the items they purchase from WORX. I have no idea why they can't solve my issue. I'm sincerely amazed at the incompetence and inability of this company's customer service and therefore highly recommend all consumers consider purchasing lawn products from one of WORX's competitors instead (try Black and Decker). If this is any example of how WORX is willing to do business then they deserve to go out of business. Buyer beware.
Worx WG712 13-Amp 16-Inch Electric Lawn MowerJul 05, 2009 Just arrived on Tues, 6/30/09 and used it over the 4th of July Weekend. It replaced my Black & Decker Electric Lawn Hog mower.
The manual was almost useless in putting it together. Looking at the photo on the box was more helpful.
The Grass Collection basket arrived mishapened and proved to be more of a challenge than needed to be to put together. With my wife's help I wound up using plactic ties to get the two halves together. Not only did the ties secure the halves but helped them regain their shape. The clips no doubt will break over a "short" period of time and use, very cheaply made. Then as it turned out, since we plan to use the mulch insert, the grass collection basket was a waste of time. Since apparently you cannot have both on. So our mower is without the black basket you see in the photo! Looks like a kid's toy.
Now for the cut itself! I had my doubts due to the light weight of the mower but I must say that the quality of the cut was impressive. As it turned out its light weight made it easier for me to manuever around and therefore spent less time & energy in the hot Florida sun. Also its ergonomic design made it easy on the back.
I gave it a conservative 3 stars not due to the cut but to my suspicions that due to cheap part manufacturing (designed in Italy and made in China)I won't get a year's use out of it.
